I have been running trains successfully on a single track route with signaled passing sidings. Each end of the route has a reversing loop, so a train reaching one end is turned and sent back in the reverse direction. As many as 21 AI-trains have run continuously and shared the route for many days of un-interrupted simulator operation. I let the trains run and check-in on the system from time to time. Trains have normally traversed the route, back and forth, continuously avoiding on-coming traffic by using the sidings and obeying the signals.
Recently, the signals stopped working, some signals don’t display correctly and don’t change correctly, the AI-drivers seem to ignore the signals and blow through reds, the custom HUD often says the next signal is yellow even when it is not, I no longer get a warning if a train passes a red, when signals change the HUD and the AI-drivers don’t seem to notice, the AI-drivers even ignore track direction markers.
I have tried several things all without success. I have restored routes and sessions to previous versions. I have removed and re-installed all of Trainz. I have created a minimal test route using different tracks and different signals.
No matter what I do, it seems the AI-drivers are not “seeing” the signals nor the direction markers.
Everything was working fine, and then suddenly it wasn’t. I’m not sure what changed nor why. Whatever happened, it is adversely affecting multiple routes and multiple sessions. I’m using Trainz Simulator 2010. Do you have any idea what might have caused this mysterious, surprise malfunction? Has anyone experienced anything similar?
