I'm interested in your software's ability to work with other CAD software--namely, Rhinoceros3d. I understand that you can generate 3d track views in Trainz, but have no idea if it's possible or reasonable to expect that 3d geometry might be exportable in a mesh or NURBS format. Here is a list of file formats Rhinoceros can read: https://www.rhino3d.com/formats/
The main reason why I'm interested in using track planning software rather than modeling it myself in Rhinoceros is that you have a database of track brands and scales that make it convenient for appropriately creating and pricing out the layout. I would hope that these two software could communicate in some fashion, because Rhinoceros is especially suited for designing complex, highly detailed architecture and terrain as well as rendering through its V-Ray plugin.
Please let me know what you think.
